Public Workshop #1 was conducted in D’Iberville, Mississippi on August 23, 2016 at 4:30 pm at the D’Iberville Town Green located at 10004 Central Avenue in D’Iberville, and in Biloxi on August 25, 2016 at 4:30 pm at the City of Biloxi Community Development Building located at 676 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. These workshops began an essential dialog with the community on the JLUS and compatibly factors that will form the basis of the Joint Land Use Study. The discussion at each workshop was tailored to the types of issues experienced in each respective area.
During the workshop, the project team was introduced; an overview of the JLUS planning process was provided; opportunities for public involvement were discussed; an overview of Keesler AFB was given; and compatibility factors were discussed. The public participated in a survey with results presented to the audience in real-time to gauge attendees’ understanding of Keesler AFB and to provide insight into potential compatibility issues. Each survey was tailored to the respective meeting area.
