COMMITTEE OVERVIEW

Who Will Guide the Development of the JLUS?

Three committees, comprising city, county, military, and other stakeholders will guide the development of the Keesler AFB JLUS. These committees are:

Policy Committee (PC). The PC is made up of elected officials of impacted communities and is responsible for leading the direction of the JLUS and monitoring the implementation and adoption of policies and strategies.

Throughout the JLUS process, the PC works with the appointed JLUS staff members representing the multiple local organizations including the Gulf Regional Planning Commission, cities of Biloxi and D’Iberville, Harrison County, and other interested parties.

Advisory Committee (AC). The AC is made up of representatives in affected jurisdictions, key stakeholders, and installation representatives who guide the consultant in setting the schedule, agenda and presentations for the PC. They meet regularly to synthesize the materials, reports and recommendations of the various technical subcommittees.

Technical Committee (TC). The TC is made up of representatives from various local agencies and the planning and development community who possess the technical knowledge needed to address various encroachment and compatibility issues and to guide and assist the JLUS process. The TC identifies and addresses technical issues, provides feedback on report development, and assists in the development and evaluation of implementation strategies and tools.
